MY VINTAGE WATKINS AMP COLLECTION PAGES!

WATKINS WESTMINSTER SUPER RARE ICONIC AMP

Watkins Westminster Amp circa 1956 approximately 5 watts

Resently won on an auction site

This iconic amp as I understand helped change our musical history all those years ago

Inspiring Vox etc to actually start making Vox amps back in the 1960's

Even shown in Jim's VOX JMI YEARS book

This amp is not just rare it is super super rare

Some previous owner recovered it in something called 'Fablon' which I have managed to remove showing the original covering

Bit battered (War torn!) but after approx 65 years what does one expect

Now just to get the valve electronics going (That's the easy bit) and I am in two minds as to make some replacement cabinet covering or to leave as is

If at a later date I decide to sell may well make and supply some replacement covering

But original think is all good for me

I have now changed the electrolytic

and fitted some replacement arrow fittings on the volume and tone conrtols

>A watkins monitor amp just chassis and preamp no cabinet.

Many thanks to Clive for spotting it. Brought it cheap from someone at an audiojumble

Requires a lot of restoration. Total restoration

Since replaced all faulty and out of spec components

Now fully working just got to get a repro cabinet made.
